Running non-stop ever since he came out of his mom's womb

Dear Diary. In October, there's a 10-kilometre race in Girona. Last year some of the dads did it. I've decided this year I'll do it too. First I thought it'd be easier, never actually run 10 kilometres before or even not done run much at all. But I thought how hard can it be you know, I'm pretty young, pretty fit you know. I'm bound to probably be in the top 10 of the 400 people who went there. Anyway, I looked at some of the finishing times so the winner ran 10 kilometres in half an hour so which means he had to run 20 kilometres an hour, on average. I tried running out on a treadmill at the gym and that is fast. That's not running, that's sprinting. If I run that fast on a gym treadmill, everyone's going to stop and stare at me from the shaking and banging of my feet. I wouldn't be able to keep that speed up for very long. Today I tried running at 13 kilometres an hour which is eight miles per hour I think. If I run at that speed, I'll finish the race in about 50 minutes which is a respectable time. So I managed to run at that speed for about six minutes and then I got a stitch in my right-hand side. I had to stop I could only run for six minutes, fuck, in the actual race I have to run for like 50 minutes if I'd go at that speed. You only have an hour to do the race as well so you've got to run at least 10 kilometres an hour which I've never done before. The most I’ve run is about 15 minutes at 10 kilometres an hour. Fuck, that goes my dreams of being a cross country runner. One of the dads last year came third place out of 400 people. It's impressive. He's been running for his entire life. Not literally, though. He hasn't been running non-stop ever since he came out of his mom's womb. I mean he's been running ever since he was a kid, at school. Perhaps he was running away from bullies. So I stand no chance against him really. The best I can hope for is just to finish the race. It's in October so I’ve three months to train for it.
