La Ronde

10th August 2013 Paul Chris Jones

Dear Diary. At 6 pm, I am outside La Ronde, Montreal's theme park. I meet Thomas who has a free entry ticket I can use. Inside we meet the rest of our friends: Kuan, Dalia, Talel, and Hernan (I say friends, but actually I think we all have little in common). Girlfriend is also here.

The first ride we go on is a rollercoaster. I like the rollercoaster. Specifically the first drop. I remember that rollercoasters are fun. I am also reminded that queuing is a major part of the theme park experience. Long, long queues.

It gets dark. The atmosphere becomes surreal and magical, like the ending of a romcom. I think I am lucky to be here for free.

We return home. Girlfriend wants me to go to bed at the same time as her. However, I have read on the internet that I should maintain a rigid sleep schedule. The reality of this means staying up until 8am, even if I'm not working the following day. It seems slightly creepy to be staying up all night while Girlfriend and the flatmate are sleeping. I agree to go to bed at the same as Girlfriend.

It turns out I am not able to sleep.  I get up. I start reading Catch-22. I return to bed around 6am.
