Fuck you, spoilers
I hate spoilers. They're everywhere. They're on TV. They're in newspapers and magazines. They're on social media.
They're even in cinemas. For example, I went to see Toy Story 4 the other day. Before the film started, there were trailers, of course, as usual. One of the trailers was for the latest Spiderman film. It begins by implying that Iron Man is dead. Wait a minute. Iron Man is dead? I didn't know that! The reason I didn't know that is because I haven't seen Avengers: Endgame yet. Fuck. So that's the ending of Endgame spoiled for me.
The Split poster
If you think you can avoid spoilers by never watching trailers, think again. You could be walking down the street and BAM! A spoiler hits you in the face! That's right! It's happened to me. Take this poster for the film Split for example:
I saw this poster on the side of a bus stop. I started reading it and then BAM! I got hit by a spoiler. What's the spoiler? It's the fact that the character Kevin has split personality disorder. You're not supposed to know that walking into the film. It's something you find about twenty minutes in.
What's more, the poster says that Kevin's 24th personality "is about to be unleashed". That's another spoiler. In fact, it's only one of the biggest twists at the end of the film.
The Thor Ragnarok poster
The Thor Ragnarok poster is also guilty of spoilers:
Who's that at the top of the poster? It's the Hulk. Am I supposed to know that the Hulk is in this film? No, I'm not. It's meant to be a surprise. BAM! Spoiled again.
Newspapers are also guilty of spoilers. Take Doctor Who for example. In 2017, I was waiting for the new series of Doctor Who to come out, and there was a new actor playing the role of the Doctor. I didn't know who the new actor was yet and I wanted it to be a surprise. But then one day, in Lidl, I glanced at the rack of newspapers and I saw a photo of a woman and the headline "THE DOCTOR IS IN" in huge letters. BAM! I knew immediately that I was looking at the new Doctor.
You might wonder what the big deal is. After all, aren't they just a few spoilers? Well, the fact is, movies and TV shows aren't supposed to be spoiled. You're supposed to see them without any prior knowlege. That's the best way.
So, please don't give spoil movies and TV shows for me. Especially The Titanic. I still don't know how that one ends.
