I have an account with a Spanish bank called Sabadell and I hate their online banking website. Here are all the things that piss me off.

I get an error when I try to view my credit card transactions

When I try to view my credit card transactions, I get the unhelpful message "Transaction cancelled: Event accountsCardData not found".

These are credit card transactions – not some far-flung part of the site that no-one ever visits. So it would be good if I could actually see them.

"Sight" accounts

Sabadell's website is available in English as well as Spanish, and on the whole, the English translations are pretty good. Except for "Sight accounts":

It's supposed to say "current accounts" but the translator has translated the Spanish term "Cuentas a la vista" literally into "Sight accounts". It always gets a chuckle out of me. I guess that's because I'm sad.

Bouncy castle

Sometimes when you login, you'll get the fun message "Transaction cancelled: org.bouncycastle.crypto.InvalidCipherTextException: pad block corrupted".

That's right. Bouncy castle crypto cypher pad block.

The website logs you out too quickly

The website automatically logs you out if you've been inactive for only five to six minutes. Often I'll leave the website for a few minutes only to come back to find that I've been logged out and lost what I was in the middle of doing. Fuck sake.

The website lets you log in to Business banking even if you don't have a business

Before you log in, Sabadell lets you choose from Personal, Business or Private banking, even if you're not a business client.

If you do choose Business, which I often accidentally do, then you won't notice anything different first because everything looks the same as Personal banking. That is until you try to do something like send money to someone. It turns out that you can only send money when logged into Personal banking, you see. I once got stuck for several minutes trying to send money only to realise that my problem was that I was logged into Business banking.

The website uses my first and middle name to greet me

When I log in, the website welcomes me with a cheery Hi, PAUL CHRISTOPHER!, in bold and with a font size of 32 pixels. But Paul is my first name and Christopher is my middle name. And when was the last time someone greeted you with your first and middle name? Only when that person was retarded, that's when.

I have to go through a security process to transfer money between my own accounts

Sabadell makes it difficult even to just transfer money between your own accounts.

The problem is this:

This fucking Crystal Maze style box appears whenever you want to send money anywhere. The idea is that you open the Sabadell app on your phone and the app will give you a code. You then enter this code into the website and click "Firmar". This way, the website will know it's really you. (Or someone who has stolen your phone.)

I agree that there should be a security process when sending money to other people's accounts. Security is important. But is it really necessary when I'm just moving money between my own accounts? The answer is no.

What's more, I always have trouble finding the code. I open the app, look for the code, and it isn't there. (You're supposed to select "Perfil" then "Firma Digital", in case you were wondering, which I suppose you weren't). I have to cancel the transaction and then try again.

I also don't like that the numbers are in a random order each time:

What's the point of making the order of the numbers random? Is it to make me stop and think for a few seconds? Is it to trick me into entering the wrong code? I don't fucking know.

Conclusion

Fuck you, Sabadell and your website. Fuck you.
