My girlfriend's meatball and sauce recipe
My girlfriend makes this dish from time to time. It's a family recipe or something. It takes over two hours to make though!
Meatballs
The meatballs are straightforward. My girlfriend uses minced pork and minced beef, in a 50:50 ratio.
Ingredients
- pork and/or beef minced meat
- egg
- flour
Optional
- salt and pepper
- parsley
- garlic, cut small
Steps
- Mix all ingredients (except the flour)
- Make balls
- Roll the balls in flour (otherwise they might fall apart during cooking)
- Deep-fry
- Dry the meatballs using kitchen paper
Sauce
- salt and pepper
- parsley
- garlic, cut small
Steps
- Mix all ingredients (except the flour)
- Make balls
- Roll the balls in flour (otherwise they might fall apart during cooking)
- Deep-fry
- Dry the meatballs using kitchen paper
Sauce
Basically, the sauce is made from onion, carrot and water.
Ingredients
- Onion
- Carrot
Optional
- Tomato
- Bay leaf
- Green pepper
- Stock or broth
Steps
- Cut the onion and carrot ("Very small!" says my girlfriend)
- Fry the onion until it yellows
- Add the carrot and cook until it softens
- Add water or broth. Optional: also add tomato, pepper, bay leaf and stock
- Cook until it's almost thick enough to be sauce
- Add meatballs towards the end. The flour on the meatballs will make the sauce thicken
- Tomato
- Bay leaf
- Green pepper
- Stock or broth
