Fish and chips recipe
"Look, a fish a chip restaurant," I said to my girlfriend.
"I've never eaten fish and chips before," she said.
"NEVER? Then I will cook you fish and chips tonight".
Ingredients
- Potatoes
- Fish (preferably white fish, such as cod)
- Egg
- Flour
- A lot of oil
Chips
- Cut the potatoes into chips.
- Optional: Boil the chips for 10-15 minutes. This should ensure they're soft on the inside.
- Heat the oil in a pan. Use enough oil to be able to deep-fry the chips.
- Test the heat of the oil by adding a single chip. The oil should fizz around it.
- Deep-fry the chips in the oil.
Fish
- Put egg into one bowl and flour in another.
- Coat the fish in egg.
- Coat the fish in flour.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 a few times to build up batter around the fish.
- Deep-fry the fish in the oil.
Girlfriend's verdict: "Very very nice. I would give it a B+".
