Dear Diary. 9 am

Today we're going to go to the beach while the weather's not too hot. But I can already feel my enthusiasm for going there slipping away. Maybe it's easy without children, but we have a four-year-old and a one-month-old. I've given 4-year-old a new Duplo playset to distract him while I get the things ready for the beach. 9:30am-4-year-old has finished building the Duplo playset now, he's already bored of it. I'm holding 0-year-old in one arm because if I put him down, he cries. I feel dehydrated. I haven't had a chance to drink any water yet, to drink anything.

9:50 am

4-year-old’s sitting on my back and pulling my T-shirt down, making the neckline of the t-shirt even more stretched than it already is. I'll have to throw this t-shirt away. Girlfriend keeps asking me where I've put the Eureka kids bag. It's a bag from a shop called Eureka kids and it's a big one. And she wants to use that to take the things to the beach. She says that I've put it somewhere and she can't find it. Maybe we can use my gym bag instead, that's pretty big. 10:10am-I can't find 0-year-old's car seat. At the same time, I'm having this conversation with 4-year-old.

‘I’m going to the beach daddy, are you going to the beach, Daddy?’

"Yeah, I'm going to the beach."

Daddy?

Yeah?

"Daddy?"

"Yeah?"

"Daddy?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm going to the beach Daddy"

"Oh,"

10:30 am- before we leave, we have to hang out the laundry to dry. I ask 4-year-old if he can help me. So he eagerly pulls out the clothes from the laundry machine then walks over to me and dumps them all on the floor. And the floor is pretty dusty, dirty. So now these wet clothes have dirt and dust on them. I just shake, shake them off and hope Girlfriend doesn't notice.

4.01 pm

I just bought ice creams from an ice cream parlour. There was an 18-year-old girl working there. She was one of the hottest girls I've seen in my life. She was sitting on one of the counters and looking bored. She had every right to be bored because there were no customers. She had blonde hair and wearing shorts. A couple of guys working there too, and the guy that served us was one of the most masculine men that I've seen. He had a deep voice and he was about 20 I think, and very handsome, was tall, had stubble. I thought I'd wandered onto a movie set by mistake and that these are actors in some film about working in a summer resort, possibly a movie starring Michael Cera. The girl’s face reminded me of this girl called Phoebe, who was one of my colleagues at Blue Mountain ski resort. She was also very hot.

The shops on the high street here are posh, expensive clothes shops and perfume shops. It's not your typical tourist town. The restaurants are all black and white, sophisticated, they look like the kind of places footballers go to. There's a Konig which is a restaurant and we have in Girona but the one here looks bigger and better and posher. We're in Platja D'Aro, which means "Ring Beach" in English
