2017: My year in numbers
Here's some statistics about my life during 2017. I've put the statistics in descending order, so the largest one is at the top and the smallest one is at the bottom.
397,090 kilograms lifted at the gym
Description: The total amount of weight I've lifted at the gym this year.
How I tracked it: Whenever I complete a set at the gym, I log the data into an Excel spreadsheet on my phone.
Last year's value: 310,691 kilograms
Comments: I'm a little disappointed because this year's total is only slightly higher than last year's value. I haven't made as much progress as the gym as I thought I would.
174,232 views at PaulJonesBlog.com
Description: The number of views PaulJonesBlog.com has received this year.
How I tracked it: Wordpress tracks it automatically.
Last year's value: 76,835 views
Comments: 2017 was a strong year for this blog, since the viewcount has doubled since last year. By the way, only four posts made up over half of the views this year. These four posts were: "100 MCQs for OSMT Medical Lab Technician exams" (23% of the total views to this blog this year), "A problem with the cooling system has been SOLVED" (19%), "Where to buy natural desiccated thyroid in the UK" (9%), and "Guide: How to download Newgrounds videos and games" (7%).
£13,652 earned
Description: The amount of money I've earned this year from work.
How I tracked it: Every time I earned money, I entered the details into an Excel spreadsheet
Last year's value: £11,510
Comments: I'm self-employed and the money I earned this year was shit. The average salary in the UK is £27,600 according to some site I just found, yet I only earned half of that. Fuck sake. Okay, so I earned more than last year, but that's not saying much. It's like comparing two tramps to see which one is richer.
£12,953 spent
Description: The amount of money I've spent this year, converted into GBP.
How I tracked it: Every time I bought something, I entered the details into an Excel spreadsheet on my computer. Later this year I made a website where I can easily enter details using my phone.
Last year's value: £10,255
Comments: I spent 26% more this year than last year. My most expensive purchases were a laptop for my girlfriend's birthday, rent, and private blood tests. My spending this year breaks down as: 33% on rent, 20% on food (groceries, restaurants and takeaways), 11% on items, 7% on transport, 5% on bills, and the rest on stuff like gym memberships, clothes, blood tests, etc.

Comments: The reason for the huge difference between this year's value and last year's value is that I travelled to Japan and India last year. The flights to and from Japan and India alone were 34,427 kilometers. This year I stayed in Europe.

300 hours spent coding
Description:
How I tracked it: With a stopwatch program and an Excel spreadsheet.
Last year's value: a lot less than 300
Comments: This year I decided to become a programmer, mainly because programmers earn insane salaries. My only problem is that I first have to learn to how to program. So for the rest of the year, I tried to teach myself how to code by forcing myself to code for an hour a day. I came close to reaching this goal, but I got sidetracked at the end of the year because my girlfriend gave birth to our son.

Comments: Writing essays has been my main source of income for the last four years. This year however, my essay writing business took a nosedive due to a classified adverts website called Gumtree. Normally I find clients by advertising through Gumtree. However, this year Gumtree started banning my adverts because it's against their terms of use to advertise essay writing services. This meant I couldn't find new clients this year.
